Santa Barbara Car Free:
Partnerships to Promote Car Free Vacation Travel

Santa Barbara Car Free, a cooperative project led by Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District, promotes car free, carefree travel to and around Santa Barbara. The aim is to reduce air pollution from travelers' vehicles, and to position car free transportation as fun. More than sixty partners are participating, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, transportation providers, and hospitality industry businesses (hotels, tour operators, etc.) The project has been of particular benefit recently, as the region has lost airline vacation business and refocused attention on tourists from nearby areas. The presentation will provide an overview of the project and its partnerships and initiatives.
